Sea Transport:
In domestic and international transport, Petrol Ofisi A.Ş. uses twenty-one time charter vessels equipped in accordance with international rules and conventions, all between 1100-7700 dwt, and an average age of 10.5. These vessels are expected to carry 4.7 million tons of fuel products in 2007 (from domestic and foreign refinery terminals to PO terminals and customer warehouses) |
In addition to these twenty-one vessels, another three handy-size vessels, each with a transport capacity of 30,000 dwt, have been chartered in an effort to bring down transport costs of imported fuel products. These vessels are planned to transport two million tons a year.
Together with the handy-size vessels, the time-charter fleet comprises twenty-four vessels, corresponding to a transport capacity of 182,000 dwt. This fleet is responsible for the transport of approximately 7 million tons of fuel products annually.
All vessels chartered by PO are inspected by specialized personnel in accordance with the basic rules of the OCIMF “Ship Inspection Report (SIRE) Program.” In addition, personnel employed in ship operations at PO Marine terminals are given applied training courses within the framework of ISGOTT regulations.
Land Transport:
DIRECT FUEL DELIVERY (DAT) refers to the high-standard shipping of fuel products from Petrol Ofisi terminals to dealers and customer units by taking advantage of the security, quality and technology of the road tanker fleet. DAT ensures product quality at Petrol Ofisi stations and allows the company to transport different fuel products to station tanks without mixing or contaminating the products, thereby ensuring that the customer gets exactly what is expected. As it supplies products to the filling stations via satellite connection, this system makes it possible to monitor the movement of each vehicle online, and thus improves logistic productivity. With the expansion of the DAT system, road tankers running on low-quality standards on Turkish highways are being replaced by high-tech trucks driven by trained operators, thus minimizing accident and pollution risk on the roads.
With the emphasis placed in recent years on high-quality products such as high-octane unleaded gasoline and low-sulfur diesel, Petrol Ofisi has incorporated special products into its Quality Guarantee system, supplying these to all corners of Turkey by means of DAT. While the number of dealers providing DAT services is over 2,000, close to 700 of these dealers are now making use of DAT in their entire supply services.
At the beginning of 2007, DAT shipping was being carried out by a fleet of 220 road tankers. The goal of the system is to ensure the rapid, safe and high-quality transport of not only special products but all types of products.
Besides station sales, Petrol Ofisi road vehicles also handle with ease the transport of fuel products delivered to commercial and industrial customers and to state enterprises and military organizations.
A leader in the jet fuels market, Petrol Ofisi carries fuels from its terminals to jet supply units by means of established pipeline networks and also with road tankers designed for jet fuel transport.
Low-emission liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is needed by the heating centers of Petrol Ofisi terminals and is also sold to customers, is carried by special Petrol Ofisi road tankers equipped to carry high-pressure and low-temperature products. LNG transport is handled by 26 tankers.
Similarly, the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used at stations and delivered to customers is carried by specially equipped road tankers.
Besides fuel products, the lubricants, greases and other chemical products manufactured at the Petrol Ofisi lubricant plants in Derince and Aliağa are carried by road tankers and trucks to terminals around Turkey. In addition, deliveries are made from the lubricant plants or terminals to customers around Turkey. |
